Prawn curry with drumstick recipe

(South indian style prawn curry recipe)

Prawn curry ingredients:

  • 500g prawn, peeled
  • 1 onion, mediun size
  • 1 tomato, medium size
  • 1 drumstick (optional)
  • medium lemon size tamarind (soak in warm water for 10 mins)
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder or to taste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • few coriander leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp of oil

royyala pulusu, shrimp curry

Royyala pulusu or shrimp curry preparation:

  • Peel, clean and wash the prawns and keep aside.
  • Soak the tamarind in water for 10 mins and extract the juice and keep aside.
  • Cut the drumstick into 2" piece.
  • Finely chop the onion and tomatoes and keep aside.
  • Now heat a deep pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
  • When they start to pop add curry leaves and chopped onions.
  • Saute till the onions become transparent.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and required quantity of salt.
  • Mix well and cook till the tomatoes become juicy.
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder, drumstick pieces and washed prawns.
  • Mix well and saute for few seconds.
  • Now pour the tamarind juice and adjust salt.
  • Cook on medium low flame for 20 mins or till the prawns become tender.
  • Finally garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Now spicy, tangy and tasty prawn curry is ready to serve.
  • Serve your easy prawn curry with plain white rice.
