Pongal
Ingredients:

1 cup rice

¼ cup moong dal
-

cups water
-
Salt
to taste
Seasoning
Ingredients:
-
1 tsp
mustard seeds
-
1 tsp
cumun seeds
-
1"
ginger piece (minced)

1 tsp
peppercorns
-
10
cashewnuts
-
a
pinch of asafoetida
-
Few
curry leaves
-
½ tbsp ghee or
oil

Pongal
preparation:
-
Wash the rice and dal together.
-
Add water, salt and pressure cook for 10 mins.

Allow it to cool for sometime.
-
Heat ghee in a pan.
-
Add mustard seeds.
-
When they start to crackle add the remaining
seasoning ingredients.

Saut'e for few mins and pour this over the rice and
dal mixture.

Combine well .
-
Serve hot your pongal with coconut chutney or
sambar.
