rasam
(Milagu rasam or miriyala
rasam)

Pepper rasam
ingredients:
- 1 tsp cumin seeds (seeragam)
- 1 tasp peppercorns (milagu)
- small lemon size tamarind
- a pinch of asafoetida
- salt to taste
- 1 tsp of oil
- few coriander leaves for garnishing
Seasoning
ingredients:
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- few curry leaves
- 1 small ripe tomato, chopped
- 2 garlic flakes, roughly crushed

Milagu rasam or miriyala
charu preparation:
- Soak the tamarind in warm water for 15 mins and extract
the juice and keep aside.
- Make a corase paste with cumin and peppercorns and keep
aside.
- Now mix the corase paste, required quantity of salt,
turmeric powder and asafoetida with tamarind juice.
- Heat a pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
- When they start to pop add curry leaves, chopped
tomatoes and crushed garlic.
- Saute for 3 mins or till the tomatoes become
mushy.
- Then pour the tamarind peppercorn mixture and mix
well.
- Now bring it to boil and turn off the heat.
- Finally garnish with coriander and serve youreasy,
tasty and healthy pepper rasam with plain white rice.
