Idly upma ingredients:

  • 4 idly (restover or fresh)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2 green chillies or to taste (sliced or chopped)
  • 1/2 inch ginger piece (minced)
  • few coriander leaves
  • salt to taste

Seasoning ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dhal
  • 1/2 tsp chana dhal
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil

Idli upme preparation:

  • Heat a pan with oil and add mustsrd seeds.
  • When they start to pop add remaining seasoning ingredients.
  • Saute till they turn into golden yellow colour.
  • Add sliced onions, minced ginger and green chillies.
  • Saute till they turn into pale golden brown colour.
  • Now add crumbled idly, salt and combined well.
  • Finally garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
  • Serve your idly uppuma with coconut chutney or pickle.
