Chicken vepudu (Kodi koora vepudu/kozhi varuval)

(Andhra style chicken fry recipe)

Chicken vepudu ingredients:

  • 500g chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1" fresh ginger root
  • 3 garlic flakes
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 1 tsp chilli powder or to taste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • few curry leaves
  • few coriander leaves

Kodi koora vepudu or kozhi varuval preparation:

  • Cut the chicken into bite size pieces, wash and drain the water.
  • Make a paste with ginger, garliv and peppercorns.
  • Take a vessel and add the washed chicken pieces, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and very little amount of water.
  • Cook on medium flame for 20 mins or till the chicken become tender.
  • Now heat a pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
  • When they start to pop add curry leaves and chopped onions.
  • Saute till they turn into golden yellow colour.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste.
  • Saute till the raw smell disappears.
  • Now add the cooked chicken pieces along with the water.
  • Mix well and cook on medium low flame for further 10-15 mins.
  • Finally adjust salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Now your easy and tasty chicken vepudu is ready to serve.
  • Serve hot with plain white rice, sambar rice, Biryani, etc...
