Bottle Gourd Dal
Ingredients:
-
1 cup toor dal (clean and washed)
-
1 medium size bottle gourd ( peeled and cut into 1"
cubes)
-
1 small tomato (chopped)
-
1 small onion (chopped)
-
7 green chillies or to taste (slit into half)
-
2 tbsp tamarind paste
-
¼ tsp turmeric powder
-
salt to taste
Popu or Seasoning
Ingredients:
-
¼ tsp mustard seeds
-
¼ tsp cumin seeds
-
few fenugreek seeds
-
a pinch asafoetida
-
few curry leaves
-
3 tsp oil

Sorakaya pappu
Preparation:
-
Add all the ingrediants (except seasoning
ingredients) in a cooking vessel or a pressure
cooker.
-
Cook on medium flame till the dal and other items
become tender(If you cook in pressure cooker 3
whistles are enough).
-
Remove from flame mash it roughly and keep aside.
-
Do the seasoning in a pan and pour on top
the of the mashed dal and finally adjust salt.

Bottle gourd dal or sorakaya pappu is ready to
serve.

Serve with rice or roti.
