Aval upma
ingredients:
- 1 cup aval (rice flakes/poha)
- 1 onion finely sliced
- 2 green chillies or to taste
- a pinch os turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- few coriander leaves
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tbsp of oil
Seasoning
ingredients:
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dhal
- 1/2 tsp channa dhal
- 5 cashewnuts (optional)
- few curry leaves
Rice flakes upma/poha
upma preparation:
- Clean, wash and the rice flakes and drain all the water
completely.
- Heat a pan with oil and add the mustard seeds.
- When they start to pop add the remaining seasoning
ingredients.
- Saute till they turn into golden brown colour.
- Then add sliced onions and sliced green chillies.
- Saute till the onions become transparent.
- Now add rice flakes, turmeric powder, grated coconut
and required quantity of salt.
- Combine well and sprinkle with little amount of water
and cover with a lid.
- Cook on low flame for 2 mins and garnish with coriander
leaves.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with coconut chutney or
mango pickle.
