1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp
urad dal
-
1 tsp channa dal
-
3 tsp peanuts (optional)

10 cashew nuts

Few curry leaves

Tamarind rice
preparation:
-
Soak
tamarind in water for 30 mins.

Extract
the juice from the tamarind and keep it
aside.

Add 2
tsp of oil in a pan and roast the powder
ingredients.

Remove
from the pan and let it cool for
sometime.

Then
grind to a fine powder and keep
aside.

In the same pan add 2 tsp of oil and
roast all the garnishing
ingredients.

Remove from the pan and keep it
aside.

Add the remaining oil in the same pan
and heat.
-
Add turmeric powder, asafoetida and
tamarind extract.

Cook on medium flame till the semi
liquid consistency reaches.

Remove from the flame and let it cool
for some time.

Finally mix gently the rice with
garnishing ingredients, ground powder and
required quantity of cooked tamarind
juice.

Serve with potato chips, papad or
potato roast.
