Rasam
Recipe
(Tomato rasam or Garlic
rasam)

Rasam Recipe
Ingredients:
- small lemon size tamarind
- 2 tsp rasam powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- a pinch of asafoetida
- salt to taste
- few coriander leaves for garnishing
Seasoning
Ingredients:
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 1 ripe tomato (finely chopped)
- 2 garlic flakes (roughly crushed)
- few curry leaves
- 2 tsp oil

Rasam
Preparation:
- Clean, wash and soak the tamarind in water for 15
mins.
- Squeeze the tamarind untill nothing hard left of
squeeze.

Strain the juice and add rasam powder, turmeric powder,
asafoetida and salt.
- Mix well and keep it aside.
- Heat a deep pan with oil.
- Add mustard seeds.
- When they start to pop add curry leaves, crushed garlic
and chopped tomatoes.
- Saute till the tomatoes become juicy.
- Now pour the tamarind mixture and allow to boil(don't
over boil the rasam).
- When it comes to a boil garnish with chopped coriander
leaves and remove from heat.
- Rasam is ready to serve.
