Lime Rasam

(Lime rasam or Lemon rasam)

Lime Rasam Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe tomato
  • 1 green chilli
  • ½ of the lemon
  • ½ cup toor dal (cooked and mashed)
  • 1½ tsp Rasam powder
  • 1 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • few curry leaves
  • few coriander leaves for garnishing

Seasoning Ingredients:

  • ¼ tsp mustard seeds
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • ¼ tbsp oil

Lemon Rasam Preparation:

  • Heat a deep pan with water.
  • When the water starts to boiling add chopped tomatoes, green chilli, curry leaves, rasam powder and salt (add water if required).
  • After few mins add cooked and mashed toor dal (do not allow this rasam to boil).
  • Remove from the stove and add lime juice and finally adjust salt.
  • Take a sepatate pan and season with seasoning ingredients.
  • Pour on top of the rasam.
  • Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Lime rasam is ready to serve.

prep & cooking time: 15-20 mins

serves: 2-4  

 

 Note:

If you add lemon juice before switch off the stove it will give very bitter taste.
