Recipe)

Cabbage dal
ingredients:
- 1/2 kg cabbage
- 1 cup channa dal
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tomato (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp chilli powder or to taste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- salt to taste
- few coriander leaves for garnishing
Paste
ingredients:
- 2 green chillies
- 1 inch ginger piece
- 4 garlic flakes
Seasoning
ingredients:
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- few curry leaves
- 2 tbsp oil

Cabbage dal
preparation:
- Chop the cabbage into medium size thin strips.
- Clean and wash the dhal.
- Pressure cook cabbage and dhal with 1 cup of water for
1 or 2 whistles.
- Remove from heat and keep aside.
- Make a paste with paste ingredients and keep
aside.
- Heat a deep pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
- When they start to pop add curry leaves, chopped onions
and saute for few mins.
- Add chopped tomatoes and saute till the tomatoes become
juicy.
- Add ground paste and saute till the raw smell
disappears.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
- Saute for few seconds.
- Add pressure cooked cabbage and dal.
- Combine well and cover with a lid and cook on low flame
for 5 mins.
- Finally adjust salt and garnish with coriander
leaves.
- Remove from heat and cabbade dal is ready to
serve.
- Serve with white rice, rasam rice, roti, chappathi,
etc...
